BOND SET FOR TWO IN DARIEN  GAS STATION ROBBERY

WHEATON – DuPage County State’s Attorney Joe Birkett announced today that Armed Robbery charges have been filed against Eddie Bosley, 19, (d.o.b. 10/7/1986) of 1313 Regency Grove, Darien and Bryant Cameron, 16 (d.o.b. 11/15/89) of 115 E. Ogden, Westmont.  The two men are accused of robbing a Darien gas station at gunpoint.  Cameron is being tried as an adult as the offense of Armed Robbery is, by Illinois Statute, an automatic transfer from Juvenile Court.

At approximately 12:45 a.m. on July 12, 2006, Bosley, Cameron and two other unnamed male accomplices allegedly entered the Shell Gas Station at 8226 S. Cass Avenue.  Once inside, it is alleged that the defendants approached the cashier, brandished a gun and demanded money.  In addition to stealing money from the cash register, Cameron allegedly broke down the rear office door in search of more money.

Bosley appeared in Bond court yesterday morning where Joseph Bongiorno set bond at $300,000 with 10 percent to apply.  His next scheduled court date is August 21 at 1:30 p.m. in front of Judge Kathryn Creswell.  Cameron was in Bond Court this morning in front of Judge Bongiorno who set bond at $150,000 with 10 percent to apply.  His next scheduled court date is August 21 in front of Judge Mark Dwyer.

“These charges brought against these two young men are very serious, so serious in fact, that a sixteen year-old finds himself being charged as an adult,” remarked Birkett.   “These two young men  are accused of accosting an employee at gunpoint, stealing a substantial amount of money and merchandise and I intend to hold them responsible for their actions.”

Armed Robbery is a Class X Felony punishable by between six to thirty years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Members of the public are reminded that this complaint contains only charges and is not proof of the defendant’s guilt.  A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the government’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
