AURORA WOMAN PLEADS GUILTY TO MURDER OF HUSBAND
Sentencing Scheduled for January 8, 2007
WHEATON – DuPage County State’s Attorney Joe Birkett announced today that Sungnam Kwon Lisowski, 45 (d.o.b. 3/09/61), formerly of Aurora, has entered a blind plea of guilty for the murder of her husband John Paul Lisowski and attempted murder of the couple’s two daughters on Christmas morning 2002.
At approximately 8 a.m. on December 25th, the Aurora Police department received a 9-1-1 call from one of the couple’s daughters reporting shots fired in the home. Once on the scene, officers heard gunshots coming from the residence and forced entry into the home. Inside, police discovered John Lisowski on the first floor suffering an apparent gunshot wound to the head. While attending to John, additional gunshots were heard coming from the upstairs. When officers reached the upper level of the home, they found the two Lisowski daughters suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. They also discovered the children’s mother, Sungnam, in a different bedroom with gunshot wounds to her chest. Emergency medical personnel transported the two girls and the defendant to Copley Medical Center in Aurora. John Lisowski was pronounced dead at the scene.
“On Christmas morning, 2002 Sungnam Lisowski took the life of her husband John and forever changed the lives of her daughters,” remarked Birkett. “Today’s plea brings justice once step closer to John Lisowski and his daughters.”
Lisowski is scheduled for sentencing on January 8, 2007, in front of Judge Michael Burke.
