States Attorney WOMAN CHARGED WITH STEALING $1 MILLION FROM EMPLOYER GETS 11 YEARS I.D.O.C.Today’s sentence stems from allegations that between May 2004 and August 2006, Bantug, an accounts payable clerk at FastTrak, wrote herself hundreds of checks from the company’s bank account. In addition, the indictment alleges that she used company credit cards to make personal purchases. The scheme was uncovered by a co-worker who discovered credit card statement discrepancies while Bantug was away on vacation. Company officials contacted the Addison Police Department who launched an investigation into the matter. “Jonah Bantug dipped into her employer’s bank accounts as if they were her own personal piggy bank for more than two years,” commented Birkett. “She damaged businesses and harmed families. Her greed however, caught up to her and thanks to the leadership at FastTrak and the Addison Police Department, particularly Detective Scott Sullivan, Ms. Bantug will now be spending time as opposed to spending other people’s money.” In addition to her sentence, Bantug was also ordered to pay $1,127,538.43 in restitution. ###
