FRIENDS OF THE DUPAGE CHILDREN'S CENTER HOST ANNUAL SPRING BRUNCH

WHEATON – The Friends of the DuPage County Children’s Center invite area residents to join them at their 17th annual family brunch at Drury Lane, Oak Brook on Sunday April 27 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

This year’s brunch, Spring Into Action, which coincides with April designated as “Prevent Child Abuse” month in Illinois, will feature family friendly entertainment including a face painter, and DJ.  New features this year will include a 13 year-old trumpet/piano player, a 13 year-old performing an original piano composition and a 13 year-old tap dancer.  In addition, a silent auction featuring products and services from local stores and attractions will be held.

The DuPage County Children’s Center investigates and processes all cases of child sexual and severe physical abuse in the County and works with children who witness violent crimes.  The Center receives government funding for its basic operations including staff and building maintenance.  However, there is little money for programs to support child victims and their affected family members.  In addition, the Center has no funding for community awareness or abuse prevention.  The annual Spring Brunch is the Friend’s primary fund-raiser each year with proceeds going to meet the needs of abused children and affected family members.

The Friends is a non-profit organization formed in 1997.  The group’s mission is to financially support the programs at the DuPage County Children’s Center that benefit child victims of sexual and physical abuse, their families and the community of DuPage County.

Tickets for this year’s Spring Brunch are $50 for adults, $15 for children age 5-12 and children 4 and under are free.  Tickets will be available at the door.  For further information please contact Lisa Hoffman at (630) 407-8220.
