Lombard Man Charged With Aggravated DUI

DuPage County State’s Attorney Joseph E. Birkett announced today that Steven J. Szucs, aka, Steven J. Sutch, 32 (d.o.b. 1/20/1976) of 338 S. Brewster Avenue, Lombard, has been charged with one count of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol as the result of an early morning traffic stop last Summer.

The charges stem from allegations that on August 26, 2007 at approximately 2:06 a.m., Szucs was pulled over by Naperville Police for speeding.  According to the Indictment, Szucs was charged with Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol because he “drove or was in actual physical control of a motor vehicle within the State of Illinois while under the influence of alcohol… having previously been convicted of Reckless Homicide.”

Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol is a Class 4 Felony, punishable by probation or up to 1-3 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Members of the public are reminded that this complaint contains only charges and is not proof of the defendant’s guilt.  A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the government’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
