Man Gets 23Years in Prison for Sexually Assaulting Great-Niece

Wheaton -   DuPage County State’s Attorney Joe Birkett announced today that Bruce Krebs, 58 (d.o.b. 04/18/1950) of  406 N Ridgeland, Oak Park, Il, was sentenced to 23 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for sexually assaulting his underage great-niece.  On February 29, 2008 a jury found Krebs guilty of five counts of Criminal Sexual Assault of a Minor and one count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse of a Minor.

Today’s sentencing stems from allegations that from between April 2000 and September 2003; Krebs sexually assaulted and abused his niece, who at the time was a minor, on various occasions.

“For more than three years Mr. Krebs repeatedly sexually assaulted his great-niece,” remarked Birkett.  “In doing so, not only did he betray her trust, but he also betrayed the trust of his family.  Now, at fifty eight years old and looking at a lengthy prison sentence, it is very likely Mr. Krebs will never be in a position to abuse anyone else again.”

Today’s sentence was handed down by Judge Kathryn Creswell.
