ASSISTANT STATE’S ATTORNEY MICHAEL WOLFE HONORED BY CHICAGO CRIME COMMISSION
WHEATON – Michael Wolfe, Chief of the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office’s Criminal Bureau, will be honored this evening by the Chicago Crime Commission in recognition of his professionalism, dedication and compassion in carrying out the duties of a career prosecutor. Wolfe will be presented the inaugural Mitch Mars Prosecutor Excellence Award at the Commission’s Stars of Distinction 2008 Awards Dinner held at the Palmer House in Chicago. The Award is named in honor of the late U.S. Attorney Mitchell Mars.
“I am extremely proud of Mike,” remarked State’s Attorney Joe Birkett, who nominated Wolfe for the Award. “He represents the very best not only in the legal profession, but also in what it means to be a public servant. He is a tenacious prosecutor in the courtroom and as compassionate as a person can be when dealing with crime victims and their families. For more than two decades, Mike has quietly dedicated his life to the pursuit of justice. While I have known for years about the contributions and improvements Mike has made to our profession, it is extremely gratifying to see him recognized by his peers.”
In his nomination of Wolfe, Birkett cited Wolfe’s work on two high-profile cases, the Evans Family Murder and serial killer Paul Runge. Wolfe was nationally recognized on both of these cases being named one of the top trial lawyers in the United States by the Association of Government Attorneys in Capital Litigation.
Tonight’s Award Ceremony will mark the 89th anniversary of the Chicago Crime Commission.
