States Attorney MAN GETS NINE YEARS FOR WITNESS HARASSMENTToday’s sentencing stems from allegations that from April 4 – 14, 2007, “Once again we see a failed attempt by a defendant to harass a witness,” remarked Birkett. “And once again we see that the courts have no tolerance for this type of behavior. If our system of justice is to work properly, witnesses must be free to testify without outside influences or fear of retribution.” A Class 2 Felony is punishable by up to seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. ###
