GLENDALE HEIGHTS MAN GETS 35 YEARS FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT OF A CHILD

WHEATON – DuPage County State’s Attorney Joe Birkett announced today that Judge Perry Thompson sentenced forty two year-old Gerardo Jimenez (d.o.b. 9/22/1966) formerly of Glendale Heights, to thirty five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for sexually abusing an underage minor in his care on several occasions in 2007.  On October 31, 2008 Judge Thompson found Jimenez guilty of three counts of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child, a Class X Felony, and one count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault, a Class 2 Felony. 

             Today’s sentencing is the result of an investigation led by the Glendale Heights Police Department that began on August 8, 2007, when police officers responded to allegations of sexual abuse raised by the victim’s mother.  Through an investigation led by the DuPage County Children’s Center, it was learned that Jimenez sexually assaulted his victim several times between January and July, 2007.  Jimenez was arrested and charged with the crimes on September 12, 2007. 

             “Mr. Jimenez sexually assaulted this young victim to satisfy his sick needs,” commented Birkett.  “And now he will have the next 35 years behind bars to think about the pain that he has caused his victim.  I would like to thank the Glendale Heights Police Department, the DuPage County Children’s Center as well as Assistant State’s Attorney Michel Pawl for their efforts in this case.  It is because of their hard work that Mr. Jimenez is now behind bars where he will remain for a very long time, unable to prey on innocent children again.”
