BRIAN DUGAN FOUND ELIGIBLE FOR DEATH PENALTY

WHEATON - DuPage County State’s Attorney Joe Birkett announced today that after approximately one hour of deliberations, a jury has found Brian Dugan, eligible for the death penalty for the 1983 kidnapping, rape and murder of ten year-old Jeanine Nicarico on all three aggravating factors which includes multiple murders, felony murder and the brutal and heinous murder of a child under twelve years-old.

            The sentencing hearing on whether the death penalty is the appropriate punishment for Mr. Dugan will begin this afternoon in front of Judge George Bakalis.  The hearing is expected to last approximately four to six weeks.
