Pages & Purrs Book Club (18 & older!)

Join fellow animal lovers for a delightful evening of book discussion and mingling with adoptable shelter pets! Snacks and beverages will be provided. Feel free to bring your own treat and non-alcoholic beverage for yourself or enough to share! 

Details

Pages & Purrs will be held the second Wednesday of select months from 6:30-7:30 at DuPage County Animal Services. There is no registration fee for Pages & Purrs, an in-kind donation from the shelter wish list would be appreciated!  To interact with shelter animals a waiver will need to be completed and submitted the day of book club.

Summer Camps

Animal Advocates: June 17th-19th, for ages 11-13

For the animal-loving youth who wants to make a difference in the lives of animals. Campers will get a behind-the-scenes look at animal sheltering, help in marketing animals available for adoption, learn how they can help feral cats, and so much more! Through presentations, engaging activities, and animal interactions campers will learn about animal welfare issues and become empowered to make a difference in their communities!

Animal Advocates runs June 17th- June 18th from 9:00am-12:00pm. The registration fee for Animal Advocates is $150. A registration form and waiver (found on the right side of the page) can be downloaded and must be returned in person or mailed to 120 N. County Farm Rd. Wheaton, IL 60187. Animal Doctors: June 24th-June 26th, for ages 11-13

Purrfect for campers who love animals and want to pursue a career in veterinary medicine one day Animal Doctors will give them an inside look at what veterinary medicine is all about! Hear from our Veterinary Administrator and Veterinary Technician, get a chance to perform a mock surgery, and practice detective skills to determine the source of a rapidly spreading disease! Animal Doctors provides a fun, engaging look into the world of veterinary medicine using hands on projects, guest speakers, and games!

Fido Fluent: July 8th-10th, for ages 11-13

Fido Fluent is sure to be a dog gone good time for the dog aficionado in your family! Campers will learn about dog training, how to read dog body language, dog jobs, and so much more! Through engaging games, activities, guest presenters, and lots of hands on time with dogs campers will leave camp fluent in dog and they’ll have a great time learning!

Fido Fluent runs July 8th-July 10th from 9:00am-12:00pm. The registration fee for Fido Fluent is $150. Critter Careers, July 15th- 17th, for ages 11-13

Do you know an aspiring dog groomer, Animal Control Officer, or trainer?  Critter Careers is the camp for them! Critter Careers will explore a wide array of careers where humans work side by side with the animals they love! Campers will get to meet special guests in animal welfare and other professions and even see first-hand what some of the DCAS professionals do day to day! Each day will include presentations, activities, and hands-on time with shelter animals!

Critter Careers runs July 15th- 17th from 9:00am-12:00pm. The registration fee for Critter Careers is $150. Furever Friends: July 22nd-24th, for ages 7-10

Furever Friends will be a pawsome experience for kiddos who are ready for their first pet! Furever Friends will focus on responsible pet care and emphasis the lifelong commitment of owning a pet. Campers will learn how to find the right pet for their families, budget for pet ownership, and how to safely and humanely interact with animals through games, crafts, activities, and, of course, hands-on time with shelter animals! 

Furever Friends runs July 22nd-July 24th from 9:00am-12:00pm. The registration fee for Furever Friends is $150. AniPals: July 29th-31st, for ages 7-10

AniPals is sure to be a furtastic time for the animal loving kiddo who just loves to help out. AniPals campers will have the opportunity to read to shelter dogs, exercise rabbits, and spend quality time with cats. Through crafts, activities, and story time campers will learn abut animal body language, safe animal interactions, and responsible pet ownership.

AniPals runs July 29th- July 31st from 9:00am-12:00pm. The registration fee for AniPals is $150. A registration form and waiver (found on the right side of the page) can be downloaded and must be returned in person or mailed to 120 N. County Farm Rd. Wheaton, IL 60187. Petite Paws: August 5th-7th, for ages 5-6

Petite Paws is a shortened Mini-Camp designed for children to learn about animal behavior, safe animal interactions, humane animal care, and so much more through games, story time, and crafts! Campers will get to practice soft hands and gentle petting by spending time with our shelter animals!

Petite Paws runs August 5th-7th from 9:00am-11:00pm. The registration fee for Petite Paws is $150. Registration must be completed at least two weeks prior to the start of the program. Scout Program

The Scout Program offered at Animal Services offers Boy & Girl Scouts the opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the life-saving work done at Animal Services while also learning about what they can do to help animals in their community. Scouts will get an interactive behind-the-scenes tour, make new furry friends, and complete a small service project by creating enrichment items for out shelter animals.

DETAILS

The Scout Patch program is available during the school year from September - May. The 1.5 hour program is designed for 5-12 participants. You may schedule multiple programs for larger groups. To schedule a tour, the troop leader should contact Humane Educator Andy Salis at 630-407-2808/ Andrea.Salis@dupageco.org. Tours require a $5 donation per child and are offered Monday-Saturday.  A waiver & release form must be completed for each scout and submitted the day of the tour. Scouts without signed waivers will not be able to participate in the tour. Waivers can  be printed here ( Waiver & Release Form).
