Trained Information and Referral Specialists can assist with
completing applications for Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program
(SNAP), Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) and Aid to Aged, Blind
and Disabled (AABD) through State of Illinois. These programs can provide
medical insurance, food, and financial assistance to low-income individuals,
families and seniors.
Additionally, the Information and Referral Specialists are
certified Medicare counselors through the Senior Health Insurance Program
(SHIP) and can provide information and assist with enrollment with Medicare
Part A, B, C, D, supplemental coverage, Extra Help and the Medicare Savings
Program through the State of Illinois.
Also, the Intake and Referral unit is an enrollment site
for Access DuPage program, which provides access to health services for
low-income, medically uninsured residents of DuPage County.
Finally, Intake and Referral provides financial assistance for medical fees, eyeglasses, dental fees, prescriptions and supplies. Clients must meet income guidelines, and cannot have private or work related health insurance, medicare supplemental insurance or medicaid.
