DuPage County Announces Lane Reductions on Gary Avenue Beginning Sept. 30
DuPage County Division of Transportation announces that Gary Avenue at Kehoe Boulevard will be reduced to one lane in each direction beginning Tuesday, Sept. 30. The lane reduction will be in effect through the end of October while construction crews replace the existing pipe culvert.
From Tuesday, Sept. 30, to about Wednesday, Oct. 15, Kehoe Boulevard at Gary Avenue will be closed to truck traffic. Trucks will be detoured to Kimberly Drive and Fullerton Avenue.
Starting around Wednesday, Oct. 15, through the end of October, Kehoe Boulevard at Gary Avenue will be closed to all traffic. Traffic will be detoured to Schmale Road and Fullerton Avenue.
Construction on Gary Avenue began in June in order to improve safety and traffic operations for the motorists, pedestrians, transit users and bicyclists. The entire scope of the project includes:
· Widening and resurfacing Gary Avenue from North Avenue to Lies Road to provide a continuous median/left turn lane;
· Resurfacing Gary Avenue from Lies Road to Army Trail Road;
· Intersection improvements, traffic signals, enclosed drainage, retaining walls; and
· Provisions for a future multi-use path to be constructed under a separate contract along the west side of Gary Avenue.
