DuPage County, SCARCE Host Sustainable Design Challenge for Local High Schools
Students from several DuPage County high schools will display their sustainable building design projects to the public at the ninth annual Sustainable Design Challenge on Tuesday, April 7, from 9 to 11 a.m.
Sponsored by DuPage County Stormwater Management, SCARCE hosts the event each year to encourage local high schools to explore sustainable topics with students. Each student group will present models of their designs, as well as explain the research and design elements that make the building sustainable. The students' projects highlight renewable energy sources such as solar panels and wind turbines, water conservation elements using native plant landscaping and rain barrels, and green infrastructure for stormwater management.
The projects will be on display outside of the County Board Room on the third floor of the DuPage County JTK Administration Building, 421 N. County Farm Rd. The public is welcome to attend.
