Bridge over County Farm Road in Hanover Park to be Installed Beginning Oct. 27
A new bridge connecting Hawk Hollow Forest Preserve and Mallard Lake Forest Preserve in Hanover Park will be erected on Oct. 27 and early Oct. 28.
Concrete bridge piers have been installed and the bridge truss will be delivered in sections. The two southbound lanes of County Farm Road will be closed beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday to allow for the assembly of the bridge sections on the parkway. Two-way traffic will be maintained on the northbound lanes.
Three lanes of traffic will be closed at 7 p.m. to set up the crane, and the bridge will be lifted into place after 9 p.m. All lanes of traffic will be closed for 15 minutes while the bridge is installed.
Once the bridge is secured, single-lane traffic will be flagged through the work zone. The installation should be complete and all lanes reopened to traffic by 6 a.m. Friday. A detour will not be posted due to the short duration of the closure.
The bridge is located roughly halfway between Schick Road and Greenbrook Boulevard in Hanover Park.
The new bridge and paths are a project of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County in coordination with the Illinois Department of Transportation. DuPage County contributed $375,000 to the project.
