Statement from County Board Chairman Dan Cronin
Statement from County Board Chairman Dan Cronin on Vice Chairman John Curran being named to the State Senate:
“I would like to congratulate County Board Vice Chairman John Curran on being named to fill Christine Radogno’s vacant state Senate seat. Curran has been a strong leader and advocate for DuPage County. Whether it’s negotiating collective bargaining contracts for County employees, or working with representatives to find solutions to legislative issues as the Chairman of the County Board’s Legislative Committee, Curran has worked to find ways to save taxpayers money. And his leadership as Vice Chairman of the Board has helped make DuPage County a great place to live, work and raise a family. While we will truly miss his work and his dedication to DuPage County, we are happy to see him moving on to bigger challenges. I’m confident Springfield is gaining an asset who will fight to protect residents of Illinois.”
John Curran served as a County Board member since 2008 and Vice Chairman since 2012. His vacant seat will be filled by Chairman Cronin with the advice and consent of the County Board. Residents of District 3, which includes parts of Downers Grove, Westmont, Burr Ridge, Hinsdale, Woodridge, Clarendon Hills, Darien and Willowbrook can apply for a position on the board. To view a map of the boundaries of District 3, visit www.dupageco.org/CountyBoard/Dist3Map.
Under state election law, a new member must be appointed within 60 days of Curran’s resignation from the Board and must be from the same political party – Curran is a Republican. The newly appointed Board member will serve the remainder of Curran’s term, which expires Nov. 30, 2018.
