U.S. E.P.A. Air Study Approved for Willowbrook
After successful meetings with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, D.C. yesterday, Chairman Dan Cronin was pleased to announce today the agency has agreed to perform ambient air testing at the Sterigenics facility in Willowbrook. The agency also heeded the Chairman’s call for better communication and agreed to set up a web page, accessible to the public, which will provide results from both the stack testing performed at the facility Sept. 20 and 21 and the ambient air testing.
“It is gratifying to know we can make an impact at the federal level on behalf of the residents of Willowbrook and DuPage County. From the very beginning, we have been calling for ambient air testing so that residents could get some assurance that the air they are breathing is safe. The lack of information has led to anxiety and misinformation, so it will be extremely beneficial for the public to have a trusted site to consult for scientific data they can understand. Our goal has been and continues to be, to protect the safety and health of our residents,” said Cronin.
