ResponsibilitiesDuties of the Emergency Telephone System Board (ETSB) include planning a 9-1-1 system; coordinating and supervising the implementation and maintenance of the system, including the establishment of equipment specifications and coding systems; receiving moneys for deposit into the Emergency Telephone System Fund; authorizing disbursements from the fund; and hiring any staff necessary for the implementation and upgrade of the system.

Appointed ByAppointed by the County Board upon nomination of the County Board Chairman. From time to time the County Board Chairman shall designate one of the County Board representatives to serve as Chairman of the ETSB and one of the Mayors and Managers representatives to serve as Vice-Chairman of the ETSB.
QualificationsPublic resident applicants must reside in DuPage County.
Other applicants must be representatives of 9-1-1 public safety agencies such
as police departments, fire departments, or an emergency services agency.
Members may also be elected officials, including members of the County Board
pursuant to the Ordinance of the Emergency Telephone System
CompositionThe ETSB is composed of (10) Board Members. The representatives consist of: (2) Members from the DuPage County Board, one of whom is designated to serve as Chairman of the ETSB; (2) Members from the DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference (DMMC), one of whom is designated to serve as Vice-Chairman of the ETSB; (1) Member representing the DuPage Fire Chief's Association; (1) Member representing the DuPage Chiefs of Police Association; (1) Member representing the DuPage County Sheriff; (1) Member representing DuPage Public Safety Communications (DU-COMM); (1) Member representing an Emergency Services agency not otherwise represented on ETSB; and (1) Member representing the public who resides within the ETSB service area.
