Brewster Creek Headwaters Project

DuPage County Stormwater Management, the Village of Bartlett and the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County recently began construction of the Brewster Creek Headwaters Project. The main purpose of the project is to reduce the potential for flooding within an area of Bartlett northeast of the intersection of IL Route 59 and Stearns Road.

This flood control project includes installation of a new 15-inch bypass storm sewer through Wayne Grove Forest Preserve and a new 60-inch relief storm sewer outlet for Beaver Pond to alleviate drainage backups caused by the existing, undersized outlet. Additionally, crews are constructing a new flood storage and water quality basin within Pratt’s Wayne Woods Forest Preserve to store and treat overflow stormwater from Beaver Pond before slowly discharging into Brewster Creek directly to the south. In addition to flood control, the improvements will also serve to enhance water quality within the Brewster Creek Watershed.
