Mapping & Identification of Wetlands
Wetland Maps on Parcel Viewer
The DuPage County Wetland Map is available on the Parcel Viewer. The wetland map was updated in 2015 with help of a USEPA grant. The wetland map is comprised of data obtained from the DuPage County Wetland Map Initiative, National Wetlands Inventory of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, wetland delineations and local knowledge and data collection. Wetlands are dynamic systems that can change over time. The map is used for planning purposes only and does not take the place of a wetland delineation. Rather, the map helps to quickly assess a property’s potential for a wetland.
How to Identify Wetlands Using Parcel Viewer
DuPage County wetland specialists may be available to perform wetland determinations for private property owners. Please contact DuPage County Stormwater Management at 630-407-6700 for more information on this service. After submitting a completed request form and payment, depending on the season, staff will complete the request within two weeks’ time and provide a letter with their findings.
Wetland Determination Request Form
It is important to remember that a wetland determination will verify the presence or absence of wetlands only. A wetland delineation may be necessary to determine the size and location of a wetland. Wetland delineations are not performed by County staff, but you may contract with an environmental consulting firm to have this performed.
