DuPage County has been delegated enforcement authority to inspect, investigate and enforce non-hazardous waste regulations for the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. County inspectors review municipal solid waste landfills, transfer stations, construction & demolition debris recycling facilities and respond to citizen pollution complaints. The authority to conducts these inspections as well as the applicable rules and regulations are listed in Illinois' Environmental Protection Act (415 ILCS 5/).
