DuPage County Election Commission Encourages Early Registration
The DuPage County Election Commission strongly urges individuals to register to vote prior to the November 8, 2016, General Election to avoid potentially long lines in the polling place on Election Day.
The quickest and most convenient means to register is by using the Illinois' online registration system at: http://ova.elections.il.gov/. The deadline to register to vote online is October 23rd. Individuals can also register to vote in person at registration locations across the County until October 11th.
After October 23rd, Illinois law enables individuals to register by taking advantage of "Grace Period" Registration. Individuals registering to vote or transferring their registration during the "Grace Period," must also vote at the same time.
Individuals can take advantage of the "Grace Period" Registration at the following times and locations:
September 29th - November 8th Election Commission Office
October 24th - November 7th Early Voting locations throughout DuPage
In order to register to vote individuals must be a U.S. citizen; be born on or before November 8, 1998; live in your precinct at least 30 days before the election; not be in prison/jail serving time for a conviction; and not claim the right to vote elsewhere.
When registering in person, individuals must present two forms of identification; one must include their current address. A number of officially authorized forms of identification include a valid Driver's license, State identification, Passport, current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck stub, or other government document containing name and address.
