Under direction; performs work of considerable difficulty coordinating and supervising the work of employees engaged in food service, delivery and clean-up; performs related work as required.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
An employee in this class is responsible for the general management of all areas of the Dining Services Department, in accordance with federal, state and local accrediting agency regulations, and standard practices of the profession. An employee in this class spends a substantial amount of time supervising the work of subordinate personnel. Direction is received from the Director of Support Services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides general supervision over the multi-unit healthcare dining services operations and retail services operations at three (3) campus cafeterias
• Assigns, delegates, supervises, schedules, and inspects work of subordinate staff
• Maintains operations in compliance with applicable state and federal laws
• Monitors approved budget throughout the year
• Maintains safety of staff through training programs
• Develops departmental policies and procedures
• Monitors food service equipment for proper operations and makes recommendations to Director for the purchase of new equipment or maintenance and supply work
• Coordinates food and supply purchasing in accordance with DuPage County Procurement Ordinance
• Coordinates receiving and storage/inventory activities
• Maintains proper inventory levels of food and supply items
• Investigates and responds to customer complaints in a professional and timely manner, involving Director as appropriate
• Recommends hires and promotions, directs and evaluates employment decisions for all assigned positions
• Maintains regular attendance and punctuality
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Adjusts work assignments and schedules in the event of an emergency to participate in emergency preparedness, response, and recovery activities as assigned.
• Depending on assignment may maintain required emergency management training, licensure and/or certifications.
• Performs related duties as required or assigned within job classification.

Exercises supervision of personnel in related area of responsibility.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Completion of a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma equivalent and six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in food service in a large multi-unit healthcare setting, including three (3) years in a supervisory role; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
This position requires possession of a sanitation certification. Must possess and maintain in good standing, a valid Illinois driver’s license.
