Job Description
DEFINITION:
Under general supervision; performs work of
moderate difficulty entering and verifying case information in a computerized
system; performs related work as required.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES
OF THE CLASS:
An employee in this class is responsible for the accurate
and timely data entry of case-related information in addition to being
assigned other specialized tasks relating to the verification and balancing of
records. Work involves processing a high volume of records from documents that
may require interpretation and clarification. General supervision is received
from the assigned Circuit Clerk Assistant Supervisor or Circuit Clerk
Supervisor.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES TO BE PERFORMED WITH OR WITHOUT
REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS:
Enters and verifies a variety of information
necessary for record maintenance; identifies, researches and corrects
discrepancies; operates a computer terminal to enter data; looks up information
in the appropriate database; researches and locates information by using an
electronic terminal; balances batches of payments including handling checks and
money orders; date stamps work according to procedures; operates other related
office equipment; files documents and records; generates notices to defendants;
makes corrections in the data entry system; may respond to questions from the
general public.
DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Good knowledge
of current office practices and procedures; good knowledge of related office
equipment; good knowledge of the flow of paperwork through the division; good
knowledge of applicable state and municipal statutes; good knowledge of
recording and coding procedures.
Working skill in completing a high
volume of data entry in an accurate and timely manner; working skill in
verifying work and identifying errors; working skill in following verbal and
written instructions; working skill in operating related office equipment;
working skill in operating a personal computer, applicable software and
peripheral equipment.
SUGGESTED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Three
years of data entry experience including one year of experience with the
Circuit Court Clerk’s Office; or an equivalent combination of training and
experience.
