Job Description
DEFINITION:
Under direction; performs work of moderate
difficulty acting as a lead worker to staff performing the entry and
verification of case information into a computerized system; performs related
work as required.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
An
employee in this class is responsible for acting as a lead worker on an
assigned shift. Work involves an overall understanding of the entire data
entry process in order to have the ability to answer questions and provide
guidance to staff when the supervisor is unavailable. General supervision is
received from the assigned Assistant Circuit Clerk Supervisor or Circuit Clerk
Supervisor.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES TO BE PERFORMED WITH OR WITHOUT
REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS:
Acts as a lead worker on assigned shift;
trains staff on processes and procedures; answers more complex questions
regarding the processing and entering of data; enters and verifies a variety of
information necessary for record maintenance; identifies, researches and
corrects discrepancies; operates a computer terminal to enter data; looks up
information in the appropriate database; researches and locates information by
using an electronic terminal; balances batches of payments including handling
checks and money orders; date stamps work for control of work processes as
necessary; operates other related office equipment; generates notices to
defendants; makes corrections in the data entry system; may respond to
questions from the general public.
DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE AND
SKILLS:
Considerable knowledge of the flow of paperwork through the
division; considerable knowledge of applicable state and municipal statutes;
considerable knowledge of current office practices and procedures; good
knowledge of related office equipment.
Considerable skill in
verifying work and identifying errors; considerable skill in operating a
personal computer, applicable software and peripheral equipment; working skill
in completing a high volume of data entry in an accurate and timely manner;
working skill in interpreting and applying case activity working skill in
operating related office equipment; working skill in directing the work of
others.
SUGGESTED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Five years of data
entry or general office experience and two years of experience with the
Circuit Court Clerk’s Office; or an equivalent combination of training and
experience.
