Title: Operations Manager - Animal Care & Control

Hours: Full-Time: 37.5 hours per week to include weekends, holidays, and after hours on-call as needed, primarily by phone/email

Salary: Dependent on Qualifications

There is one position open at this time.  This position oversees the Operations of the Animal Care & Control department.

Responsibilities include:
•    Recommends, implements, and monitors department policies and procedures for compliance with applicable Federal, State, and local rules and regulations
•    Recommends hires and promotions, oversees training, directs and evaluates employment decisions for all assigned positions
•    Identifies and resolves employee relations, performance and high level customer service issues
•    Oversees and makes recommendations aimed at optimizing employee, visitor & volunteer risk management and safety
•    Oversees all licensing, certification and membership requirements for the department
•    Establishes and maintains a professional work environment while providing appropriate leadership and direction for staff and volunteers
•    Manages daily operations of the department at the direction of the Administrator/Veterinarian
•    Prepares and monitors the annual budget at the direction of the Administrator/Veterinarian
•    Directs the management of fiscal and budgetary operations, as well as financial resources and the collection and recording of all fees authorized by the Animal Control Ordinance and associated fee schedules
•    Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with county officials, community groups, agencies, other local government officials, and the public
•    Works with Administrator/Veterinarian and staff to develop and oversee initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life of shelter animals and increasing Live Release Rate
•    Works with appropriate departments (OEM) to develop and maintain mission/vision, strategic plan and emergency animal sheltering plans
•    Maintains close working relationship with DuPage Animal Friends Foundation

Requirements include the following experience or equivalent combination of training and experience:
•    Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Shelter Management, Business Administration, or a related field
•    Ten years of administrative or management experience including at least five years in a supervisory capacity
•    Experience with managing the fiscal operations of an organization
•    Proven track record of successfully leading an organization to the next level of growth/maturity
•    A valid Illinois Driver's License in good standing

The preferred candidate will have:
•    Experience working with open admission and/or Animal Care and Control facilities
