The responsibilities for this position include:

 

  • Providing community-based supervision to those released from jail prior to trial, appropriating the degree and intensity of supervision proportionally to each defendant’s risk level;
  • Monitoring Court-ordered conditions of release;
  • Installing and monitoring confinement equipment;
  • Referring defendants to community resources to increase likelihood of compliance with conditions of pretrial release;
  • Working effectively as a team member, communicating and collaborating with the other pretrial field officers and sharing equally in the distribution of the workload;
  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with law enforcement personnel and community resources who work with or have contact with defendants;
  • Testifying in Court and providing written reports to the Court, when needed;
  • Attending and participating in department meetings;
  • Maintaining complete and accurate case notes;
  • Perform pretrial investigations functions;
  • Attend Bond Court for Pretrial functions;
  • Conduct criminal histories for clients on pretrial status;
  • Completing all other duties and functions as assigned; and,
  • The ability to transition to and/or provide services to juveniles on Home Detention if need be and perform all the necessary duties of a juvenile Home Detention Officer.

       Requirements for this position include:

 

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in the Behavioral Sciences such as Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, etc., or an equivalent combination of training and experience;
  • Effective crisis intervention skills;
  • Ability to take initiative and use good judgment;
  • Demonstrated skills in the area of communication, both written and verbal;
  • Ability to function independently and be an effective contributor to a team;
  • Good decision making skills;
  • Flexibility in relation to working hours, which will include evening and weekend hours;
  • Ability to complete numerous physical equipment installations or maintenance daily including but not limited to standing, kneeling, and/or working in close proximity to defendants.
  • Ability to meet physical demands in the field.
  • Current, valid Illinois Driver’s License and willingness to utilize personal vehicle to complete work assignments as necessary.
