In response to the ongoing public health crisis involving COVID-19, DuPage County Recorder Fred Bucholz is taking steps to ensure the safety of our customers, employees and the residents of DuPage County. The goal is to continue to provide important services to the public while limiting the exposure of the virus to our customers and staff. Fortunately, many of the services provided by our office can be provided without direct, in person contact. As a result, the Recorder will be making the following changes in response to the threat posed by COVID-19:

At the start of the business day of March 31, 2020, the DuPage County Recorder will be recording documents by USPS mail, FedEx, UPS mail or e-recording only. The public will not be allowed into the Recorder’s Office. This will be in effect until June 15, 2020. This precautionary measure will help protect employees and the public against the spread of COVID-19. There will be several ways for customers to receive important services from the Recorder’s Office during this period:

RECORDING

Customers will continue to be able to record documents with this office via our e-recording process or by submitting documents to our office via USPS mail or commercial shipping carriers (such as FedEx or UPS). If you have any questions, please call the Recorder’s Office at 630-407-5400.

RETRIEVING PREVIOUSLY RECORDED DOCUMENTS

If the document you are requesting was recorded since March 16, 1961, you can download a copy of the document for free at www.dupageco.org/recorder.

If you need a document prior to March 16, 1961 you can send an email to recorder@dupageco.org. Please include a name, permanent index number, or address of the property. If you need additional assistance regarding your document request, you can reach us at 630-407-5400.

   

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by these changes.  In the end, these changes are designed to protect the health and safety of our customers and staff.

As the DuPage County Recorder, I believe first and foremost that service is the main objective of the office. My staff is willing to assist you in any manner possible. Please keep in mind that we are not attorneys and cannot dispense legal advice. If you have questions about the preparation or legality of a document, you should consult with an attorney. When you are ready to record your documents, you may either mail them or present them for processing to my staff.
