Mission, Vision, Values

Mission

The Probation and Court Services Department of the 18th Judicial Circuit Court serves the adult criminal justice and the juvenile justice systems in DuPage County as governed by law.
We are dedicated to achieving justice and protecting our neighborhoods by:
  • Holding offenders accountable for their criminal actions by facilitating victim reparation and requiring compliance with court mandates;
  • Directing offenders toward lawful behavior by promoting changes in values and beliefs and through improving competency skills;
  • Providing opportunities for victims to be educated and active participants in the justice process, addressing their personal damage and material loss;
  • Operating the Juvenile Detention Center, providing comprehensive services to those in custody; and,
  • Engaging community-based resources, participating in educational and crime prevention initiatives, and establishing community justice partnerships.

Vision

The 18th Judicial Circuit is a nationally recognized model for justice.

All members of the community, including victims, criminal offenders, and community justice participants accept ownership of the justice process and cooperatively exercise their authority to achieve justice.

Our Department has played a leadership role in this endeavor.

As a result:

  • All victims experience healing and reparation.
  • All offenders acknowledge and accept responsibility for their behavior, expand their skills, and live as lawful citizens.
  • DuPage County benefits from the lowest crime and recidivism rates in the nation.
  • Community members feel safe and confidently invest in the justice process.
